Wheel Difference Pre-2000
I'm looking at a rear wheel for my 03 FXD, the guy selling it doesn't know what it came off of (left in a garage when he moved in so he's selling it for cheap). I know there's a difference between 2000 and later Dyna's and pre 2000. Anyone know what the difference is? Or if there are any measurements I can take/markings on the rim that will help me figure out if it will fit?

Different bearings, spacers, pulley, and rotor. The OD of the bearings of the earlier wheel is smaller which makes the register bore of the pulley and rotor smaller. Some aftermarket rotors and pulleys accommodate this by including bushings or using stepped register bores.

99 (and earlier) wheels used Timken bearings and a separate grease seal. If you look at the bearing part of the hub it will be pretty obvious as you won't see the edge on the inner bearing race flush with the deal.. The OD on the Timken bearing is smaller.
