Dude, how cool of you to get your pops a bike. Good on you! That bike will mean the world to him. Hopefully you guys will get in a lot of good riding time together.
From what I can see of the front of the forks (pretty clean), the wheels look clean and the shiny alum. covers can be polished up with your favorite polish (I use Mothers Mag & Alum). Good on you and I'm sure your dad appreciated the gift. Have fun.

Yeah he is gonna Polish it, looked like the bike sat outside for God knows how long. We had to use wheel acid to clean up the wheels. They were nasty as hell.
I can't understand people who leave their bikes outside when they are trying to sell them. One guy near me had the bike sitting in his driveway for 2 years, with a for sale sign.
Hope that bike cleans up nice, and you have some nice rides together.
Nice find, wish I could do the same for my pops, but do to shoulder injuries he cant ride anymore.
If a bike is well maintained, staying outside for its life really isn't a bad thing, most cover mine has seen in the last 6.5yrs is a rain cover. I do wish I had a garage for it though.
