I just purchased an 04 Wide Glide, got it home and was checking things out. Locked the stering and now it won't unlock. Is there a trick or am I out for riding this weekend until the shop opens on Tues? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, tried it and the key will not turn at all. You can hear a clicking but that is it. I will keep trying it off and on. Maybe it will work one of these times.
i have to "lean" on my bars so they are turnede all the way, then the key will work for me...
good luck
I grab the left grip and pull on it from over the seat so the forks are fully turned left. While doing that I attempt to unlock my forks.
One of my friends accidentally started their bike in first with thier forks locked and w/o using the clutch. When the bike stalled out it had put pressure against the wheel so when he tried to unlock the forks he couldn't get it. When I asked how he finally got it he said that he had to put the bike in nuetral and roll it back a little to get the tension off the neck.
Still no luck so this weekend is a wash. I guess I will wax and polish it since it is just sitting here. Back to the shop on Tues. Thanks for the help.
After trying everything a locksmith was called yesterday. He worked on it for around a hour and drilled the lock out. The backing plate won't budge and the steering is still locked. So on the trailer it went to the shop. They looked at it and was amazed to saty the least. Good thing for the extended warranty and a helpful shop. Should be back this week including the new pipes and bars. Can't wait to get some riding in.
