I will be storing my FLD for winter soon and I just wondered what most people use as a fuel stabilizer. I was thinking of using Sea Foam in the fuel, would
Sta-Bil work better?
Both are good. Just make sure you have an almost empty tank, pour the stabilizer in, fill the tank and take at least a 15min ride to get the mix completely through the system
Truth! SeaFoam stabilizes fuel, controls moisture, cleans injectors and carb jets, and dissolves fuel residue in the system.
I begin adding SeaFoam on my last rides before the bike is prepped for her winter's sleep running it through the fuel system. On the final ride of the season I add the last of the can of SeaFoam and top the tank off fully.
In spring I'll run the tank down as far as possible letting the SeaFoam continue to work its cleaning magic
I've used both with great results as well. I also dump in Lucas injector cleaner as well. Have never had an issue in April when its time to ride again. Turn on the fuel, twist the throttle twice, and hit the starter. Both my Big Dog Chopper, and my Harley FXR have never failed to run.
There are several good stabilizers out there. Once you find one that worked for you stay with it. Stabil and Seafoam have been mentioned, both are fine products. I use Startron Ethanol Treatment through out the riding season and at the end of the riding season as a stabilizer. So each to their own.
I just always use real gasoline. We do get to ride quite a bit in winter here in SC. Just too cold in the morning or too dark at night for daily transportation for my job. Things will get back to normal about March.
