Happy thanksgiving all. The past few weeks I've been kicking around the idea of trading in my 2016 Street Glide for a Lowrider S. I got the glide thinking my girl would be riding with me more than she actually did, and while I like the SG, I want a smaller bike if it's just me riding 95% of the time. My question is can I expect to flip one for the other straight up? I really don't want to lay any money out of pocket for the trade. My SG has less than 5,000 miles on it and I added Reinhart slip ons and a daymaker. Other wise it's stock.
According to the KBB, trade in value on your motorcycle is 16,250
Msrp is what 16.7k on the LRS? Plus the other associated fees (provided you're getting it new from a dealer).
Depending on the market in your area you may or may not be able to get them to budge a little on the price, but honesty I would be very surprised if they did a straight trade.
Yeah that's pretty much what I figured. I didn't know how Harley dealers generally worked it with trade ins, but I figured they'd hose me. I'll probably try to sell it privately and if I can get my number, good. If not, I'm not crying too hard. I like the SG.
I was at the same place when I got my LRS. Love Street glides and want both. But for a daily rider the LRS was the first purchase. Just a great bike. The SG purchase will be for 2 up riding. Can't go wrong with that LRS for a daily.
Just traded my SG, well last June, for a new Low Rider. Dealer wanted my bike and $1500. I said "no, the only way I will do the deal is an even trade". He must have had someone ready to buy my bike because he said "OK". My SG was gone the next day, so we both made out. It can be done, if everything lines up. Never hurts to ask. BTW, mine was an '08 with 26,000 miles, but I had a color matched Ultra tourpack with QD system, three seats, three windshields, a QD passenger back rest, Kerker 4" Stouts, and about $2500 in extras.
I'm considering the same trade for a lowrider s. Mine is a 15 road glide with 20k miles but several mods and custom paint. Hoping to not get hit too hard. But I do miss a more nimble bike with 175 less lbs. Good luck man, best of luck.
Traded my 2016 RGS for a low rider S. No regrets at all in the change, I love dynas pure and simple. However I sold my roadie privately for the best price and then haggled hard for the best price on an new S and it worked out well. Good luck
I wouldnt take anything less then fair trade in your situation. Street glides sell great in my area. Prolly better then any other bike. While i like the low rider s myself it is kinda a specific customer bike. Some love them some hate them. The gold wheels etc. Anyway im in the reverse situation as you at the moment myself. I have a new dyna and love it. But also want a street glide for 2 up riding. So instead of getting raped at the dealer im gonna keep my dyna street bob and fix it up like i want and in the mean time look for a great deal on a used one that i cant pass up. If i cant find a great deal on a used one the day i pay off my street bob (soon i hope) i will go finance a new street glide. Having both is the best of both worlds to me. Dyans are better for normaly dd. But the sg wins hands down 2 up riding and long distance. Jmo. Good luck
