Winter
Each bike got one ounce of STA-BIL, a full tank of fuel, and enough of a ride to fully evaporate any gathering condensation. About 25 minutes on the Triumph, and closer to 40 on the FXDX. I knew I would be more comfortable on the Harley in this weather, so she got the longer loop. Bundled up in layers, I stayed warm enough for that duration, but my movement didn't feel as limber and fluid as I like, especially on the Speed Triple... Also, the usually sticky Pirelli Corsa Rossos felt extremely unsticky, like a long out-lap that never ended.
The FXDX felt great though, and clearly enjoyed the cool dry air. It was actually a really nice ride. Now they're in the garage, the Triumph up on front and rear stands, the FXDX with tires inflated to their max, and a battery tender connected.
I hope this interruption to my one true pleasure doesn't last more than three months!
So looks like I'll have to get a better rated CCA battery and shelf the HD for now. Don't want to get stranded because it won't turn. The dual sport doesn't appear to have that problem so I'll keep that one out.

And everyone's favorite uninvited guest, Murphy, had to show up to take advantage of the situation... When I took out the seat screw to reach the battery, the bolt attached to the inside of the fender fell out. I nylocked it for now, but I like being able to change seats quickly. I guess I'll have to remove the fender and weld a nut back in. Pain in the ***.

I ran a little test after last week. I had rode to work, it was mid 30s all day. When it was time to leave, It was straining to turn over to the point I was thinking OH crap, but then it finally kicked over. I have the regular stock oil, nothing fancy or thick for hot weather. I do keep it on a tender at home.
So I left it in the garage for 3 days without the tender. Its fairly warm, usually around 55 I'd say. After the three days it fired right up, kicked nice and hard. So it looks to me like the stock battery isn't so great in the cold.

I no longer keep it on a tender, and it hadn't been ridden in awhile when I started it yesterday. It cranked hard and started instantly. We'll see in March, after being freezing with no tender for a few months...
I would consider using one on the Harley, but I would have to add a battery cover, since the DX uses an exposed black battery...
It's remarkable how light it is (which is more meaningful on the "fast" bike)!

I've been thinking about trying one of those in my dr650.
That speed triple you have there is pretty sick.
