Default Primary chain question!

What's up guys? Quick question, looking for opinions and advice.

Changed my clutch hub today (2000 Dyna FXDX), had to buy a new primary chain as well because the one it had on was too tight and it played a hand with the hub coming loose. However, when we installed the new chain it turned out to be too short and tight again, we checked distances a measurements within the primary case but everything is up to spec, the tensioner is not pushing on the chain at all and it's still way too tight.

We're scratching our heads over here, logical solution would be to get a longer chain (stock is 82 links, might need to go up to 83 or 84 and apply tensioner), but do they even make longer chains for Dyna?

Thanks guys, any help is appreciated.

I would guess that your clutch hub isn't a stock tooth count causing your chain to be too tight. Yes, they sell different length primary chains in the aftermarket and maybe by going oem softail it might give you the extra teeth

Cont'd:
Narrowed the problem to exactly that, the hub must be from another model maybe a softail. About to order a new chain, 84 link Softail chain. However, do you guys know if the chain width is compatible? I asume it is and that it will fit a larger clutch hub, just double checking if what changes from one chain to the other is just the number of links and not the width of the chain.
