I have several LED's including a H-D Daymaker and a 7000 lumen Cyclops H-4.
Maybe they are better than a halogen but none of the LED's that I have match the light output of an HID conversion. The LED is less installation complication, though.
My comparison experience is limited but I replaced the stock with the daymaker and the difference was literally day and night. My best upgrade to date.

They are trying to get there but not there yet.
I'm glad I went with an HID in my Super Glide.
The LEDs are there. It's the cost, optics, and heat management holding it back.
Almost 18,000 lumen, 4000 kelvin, 38mm board, 2.6A @ 54V...$26...
I put one on my Honda and it works great. The other I tried to install on my 2014 Lowrider but could not get the harness to fit inside the stock headlight bucket.
I JUST put this Daymaker knock off on mine $148. I don't know how it compares to the Harley / JWSpeaker, but it's bright as hell and DOT approved (and comes in 7 inch). I know folks love the Daymakers, but I can't get my head around $400 for a headlight.
Sorry about the big picture, it just photographs large!
