All set with the starter issue thanks for the input. New question is about the mainshaft race. Mine is pretty rough looking. So when this race is removed the new baker bearing makes up for the race with a smaller inside diameter that the stock bearing? I just like to know how it all goes together

Alright moving on. Got the stock bearing pressed out and new baker in place. My cometic primary kit has 4 o rings.
...One small o ring ( drain plug) ?
...3 other o rings of which i have no idea as they are nowhere in my manual (maybe for newer models)
... there are also 2 white plugs (also have no idea about these)
Anyone have ideas for me ( it is an 06 lowrider 88ci
I remember my James primary gasket kit having extra parts that only applied to certain models/years (forwards vs. mids, for example), but I can't remember exactly what. I just replaced everything I removed. Follow the service manual to the letter and you should be OK.
Yup ive gone over the whole primary section of my manual several times. Basically the 3 larger o rings and little white plugs dont exist so ill assume theyre just for other models. Just like to hear others input
Correction! the white plugs hold the crankcase gasket in place. Gave all the old parts another look. They are tiny, old and super dirty so i didnt see em first time around
I fear that I may have created more work for myself during this primary rebuild. Yes I used a small grinder to cut the race off of the main shift. It worked great but as I was knocking it free with a blunt chisel the race slid in board and bumped up against the main shaft seal. I cleaned the area thoroughly with compressed air to see if there was any damage but I could see none. Would it make sense to refill the transmission case with fluid and watch for a leak to see if it had been damaged?. Or would that only work if the bike had been recently
