I have a chance to snag a wide vintage solo with a back rest for a pretty good price. Just curious if anyone has one with mid controls specifically. I'm not sure the seating position would make the back rest that much more worth it since you sit kind of straight up.
I picture those with forward controls getting more use out of it since they are kind of laid back.
While I've never owned a back rest personally, the ones I've seen have all had some level of adjustment to them. you could always add highway pegs, that way you can lay back like you said.
I just did a quick Google search of "Harley solo seat back rest" and saw a couple on there with mid controls, and pegs where the forwards go without controls. Seems like a lot of people are doing this.

Hmm this is an interesting idea, I didn't think of that. I have a crash bar with highway pegs built in but my feet don't reach them too well. If you buy pegs they just mount to the front or do you need to get something extra to add them?
My old dyna had mystang with backrest and I had mid pegs as well as forward controls.
Super comfy. I prefer mids to forwards anyways
The kick back seating position you speak of is really relative to bar positioning more than if your feet are under you or not. If your bars cause you to lean forward than you will.
You can buy mounts for the pegs to attach to the front as if they were forward controls. Or you can just get forward controls. I hated my mids especially on long rides.

If interested pm. No longer run this setup but still have the parts. Also I have a backrest on my c&c. Its awesome. Prevents me from slouching, I love it.

Any personal experience with it?
I use my solo with a backrest with mids but its a lot easier on my hips with highway pegs which I use often.
