Thinking of fabbing/mod'ing some hard bag brackets using the softail conversion ones and installing on my 2000 FXDL. I can pick up a set with hardware from less than $40. Question is has anyone done this? I tried searching from it but didn't have any luck.
Negative. But I'm not sure what you're talking about specifically. Are you wanting to use the longer fender struts, and have the turn signals go through the strut/fender seperate to the bag mounts?
I was curious about that when I had my old street bob actually.
No I am going to install FLH bags and put LED lights on them so the stock turn signals won't be there. But instead of starting from scratch on the bag brackets I was looking at buying some softail brackets and modifying them some to fit a Dyna. Just wondering if anyone else had done this. I saw a few people just made brackets from scratch but for $40 it may be worth it.
I'm planning on doing just that this weekend on an 06, or at least begin fabbing something. I have a set of softail FL saddlebag conversion brackets that I'll be hacking up. At first glance, the tabs need to be moved and shortened, and I'm planning to cut the bottom brace off at the front of the bag and leave it unsupported for now. I'll take some pics and post them if I get anywhere.

I used the softail brackets cut the tops off and added a flat bar (welded) to mount it to the fender strut. Also mounted the front part of the bracket simulare to blueangel. And also made a rear crossover brace. Was on a 11 street bob.
