When I did this mod a few years back using the Fat Bob trees with the stock Street Bob legs and going to a Wide Glide/Softail 40 spoke hub, I used the stock spacers (PN-11804) because both the Wide Glide and the Street Bob used the same axle spacers and ordered the fat bob axle for 2010 (PN-41547-07A) since I went with the Fat Bob trees. I noticed that in 2010 that the Wide Glide used a different axle though (PN-41628-08), but in 2012 both the Wide Glide and the Fat Bob use the 41547-07A axle, was there something different about the 2010 setup that required the different axle? Also, I noticed that the 2012 Street Bob uses the same 11804 spacers, but the Wide Glide has three PN for the axle spacers, 11804, 40926-08 (L) and 40927-08 (R), are the last two used when running the ABS?

So my understanding is that if someone wants to convert from mid glide to wide glide or fat bob trees and using a wide glide / softail hub they would need;
-Axle PN - 41547-07A
-Spacers - 11804 (non ABS)(stock on Street Bob, Low Rider and Super Glide) or 40926-08 (L) and 40927-08 (R) for the ABS versions.
-Wide Glide Bearing kit - 43851-11A (non-ABS) or 42400010 (with ABS)

If using the stock mid glide hub, the use of the Hawg Halters kits would provide the disk spacer and the new axle and spacers, if I read their description correctly.

If any of the is incorrect please note it.

I didn't go through all your #s, but your comment about 41547-07A vs. 41628-08 axle made me curious...

I see all FXDWG & FXDF 08-later using the same 41547-07A while 41628-08 is for midglides

In regards to the spacers, I think they may have made an error on the 11804 listing... I mean 2012-13 only, while listing the other #s also??...When the other parts that contribute to sizing differences are the same (wheel, center spacer sleeve, sliders)...something is odd

Btw, ABS wouldn't use a normal Left spacer, it would be sensor/spacer combo

Those Hawg Halters kit would be viable if the OP wants to re-use his midglide hub/wheel

It depends on what the end result the OP is looking for...he has options to use his midglide, softail/WG, or Touring wheels

.

Default Axle?

It doesn't look like the Hawgs kits contain the axle spacers though, which wouldn't save me much work after all.....if I read the ad correctly. May call them tomorrow?

Maybe I'm way off, but when I do mods, front or rear and change wheels or fork, or trees:
I measure the existing offsets
I measure outside to outside of the forks (axle holes) or swing arm
Make my changes then do the same measurements again.

Yes - different axle will be needed, possibly shimming of rotors or calipers, fenders etc.

Modifications usually require modifications.

OP,

Yes, you will need the correct WG axle to go with the WG triple trees. That's the easy part.

Next is axle spacers, to get your Street Bob wheel (or whatever you may be using) centered between the forks. Not sure there's an existing part number to use that's a guaranteed drop-in fit, but an axle spacer is easy to fab/trim/shim.

Last is moving the brake disc out to line up with the caliper. Again, there may or may not be an off-the-shelf spacer that is a perfect fit, so be prepared if you need to fab something.

Oh, and then there's the fender...

Good luck and post some pictures.

Mock-ups are useful in a lot of cases, especially when doing custom work. This really is not one of them.

If all you want to do is install your existing midglide wheel, fender and fork legs into a set of Dyna Wide Glide Trees, the calcs are easy...no mock-up required

* Dyna (Wide Glide Trees tube center-to-center dimension) - (the midglide dimension) ÷ 2 = X
* X + existing Left Spacer = NEW Left Spacer
* X + existing Right Spacer = NEW Right Spacer
* X = NEW Caliper Spacers OR NEW Rotor Spacer
* X = NEW Fender Spacers
* 41547-07A Axle

Also, I would be quite surprised if the Hawg Halters doesn't include the wheel spacers...that's kind of an important part of a widening kit.

You are more than likely correct about the axle, I was basing my info off of what I pulled up on Ronnie's Parts Finder which has the 41628-08 axle listed for a 2010 Wide Glide.

I am not sure exactly how the axle spacers work with the ABS, again, just providing info from that same location as above.

Thanks for helping clear things up.

OP, I would guess that Hawg Halters Kit PN-WGCK-C408 is what you would need. Ket says it comes with;

WGCK-C408; 49mm, Single Disc, FXD w/Spoke Wheel, 2008-up, 25mm Axle
Conversion kits include the following based on application:
Stainless Steel Axle
Polished Stainless Steel Fender Spacer Kit
Billet Aluminum Rotor Spacer Kit, Chrome or Polished Finish

But the kits don't work with ABS, which I don't believe you have on a 2012 Street Bob, correct?

That's correct, no ABS. I sent a message to Hawg Halters asking about the wheel spacers, because I don't see them listed in their ad above either. The rotor spacer would be cool to have but I can get an axle and get spacers made for less than $170 I would think? Just trying to decide the best way to proceed.
thanks
