Wrong belt guard?

Default Wrong belt guard?
Ok so when I got the bike a few weeks ago, I neglected to look under the soft saddle bags, today I was removing them to see how it would look without them. Well after I took them off I noticed the belt guard was kinda bent. So I removed the two bolts and laid it on a soft clean rag then on about piece of hard steel to easy pound it flat. Well one it was pretty straight, upon trying to get it back on, the bolt holes would not line up. Like if I put the back hole in place the front one was about an inch too far away, and vice verse. What is up with this thing?

There are three different belt guards for the Dyna's. One for 00-05 Dyna's, one for 06's and one for 07 and later models.

isnt there a bend in it so that it can go around the shock
