Lesson learned! 4 months ago I purchased an EverStart battery from WallMart which failed me this afternoon on the southbound lanes of Interstate 17, north of Phoenix. Went dead as I was going 75 mph. I had an old Harley battery at home which still had some power remaining so I asked a friend to bring me that battery, which he did and fortunately it still had enough power to supply the bike. I took the failed battery back to WallMart and they just said "Sorry, would like to purchase another battery. Our batteries are only guaranteed for 90 days." $103 down the drain. Could have been a lot more expensive if I didn't have a spare. Would have required a tow and how long would that take on the side of the road?
What lesson learned? I have only used EverStart batteries when replacing for 15 years now and have never had a single failure. Generally get 8 years out of them. Plus the 20 series for a Dyna is under $90 which is almost half of a H-D battery.
Sometimes crap happens. I had a H-D battery go bad in 6 months in a 13 Street Bob. Fortunately it had a 12 month warranty.
EverStart were made by Yuasa subsidiary. Yuasa is the largest maker of motorsports batteries in the world.
Were you unaware of their guarantee when you purchased the battery? Should they exchange a battery that's already been out of warranty for a third the time of the warranty period? I'm sorry that happened, but I honestly don't see what the guy at the counter did wrong.
I have done well with HD OEM Batteries over the years .. Sometimes trying to save money can cost you a lot more in the long run .. When bought the 05 Dyna did some tests on the Cheap Chinese Junk Crap Battery in it, Low Voltage and Crappy Amperage .. Just went to the Dealer coughed up around 150 think it was and not a problem since ..

....seriously? 90 day warranty on a battery is a joke. Sorry but it is.
Charging system is fine. 14.1 when bike is running. Put a battery tester on the dead one, it still had 12.1 volts but 0 amperage
that is my question of why id would die with battery failure while running as the HD uses a permanent magnet alternator which would not require voltage for initial excitation.
