Wrapped pipes look okay on a rat bike but definitely not so much on the newer models.

I dont know, it would look good on mine but, I read too many reports of the pipes cracking so common sense was needed.

Did you paint your engine black or did it come that way. Just got my tins done, now thinking of just painting the grey bits black. Just not sure how the paint will hold up plus painting the fins will be a bitch.

Looks and pipe wear aside do these wraps actually cut much heat from the pipes?

Stupid as it sounds could you touch a wrapped pipe without burning your glove?

Gloved? Touch, yes. Hold, no. They'll still burn the **** out of your skin. I've never put an IR thermometer to mine but I bet they're still 350f plus.

Yes, pipes feel cooler, and it also made my pipes sound a little more muffled and quieter.
Wrapping for years with zero pipe cracking. If bike is super lean or not tuned, then hell yeah, you might have problems of retained heat on the surface of the pipe.

You should go up one main jet size if I remember correctly. You have to richen it up a little bit, as I remember there was a note in with the tape when I bought the 1 in wide for the old kx125 dirt bike.

Good to know (and saves installing heated grips)

If it shortens the life of my pipe then I get a new pipe (win win) The long shots on my old streetbob looked like crap after 50,000km in all conditions

I reckon they look great..
