Default MY BUTT HURTS

Yesterday I went for my longest 1 day ride yet, 450 miles. My *** was killing me for the last 150 miles. I have a HD Sundowner. It was comfortable the first year ( 6000 miles ). Seems like the padding has broke down alreay. Any suggestions, I plan on going to Laconia next weekend.
Thanks

Assuming the seat would be comfortable ifit was new, take it to an upholstery shop and see if they can replace the foam with a higher quality.

Just a thought, I have a Mustang Regal Duke that I put on my 99 dyna IF I'm gonna go more than 400 miles in a day. Been able to run :Monterrey, Mexico to Norman, Oklahoma without a hotel stop.. about 900 miles. No butt problems.. Used that same seat on vacation.. 3400 miles 9 days. Never a sore or tired butt. When going less than 400 miles I use the mustang square back. Comfortable enough for the less 400 daily rides.

I think most people would have a sore butt after 450 miles ! depends on the person for sure. I have the sundowner now but i have a 2-up mustang that will be here in a couple days.i will let you guys know what i think of it. i have yet to go 450 miles in one day on my bike.

Thought I'd add my comments if it's any help

After several seats on my Wide Glide, and having seats re-stuffed and re-designed with gel pads and all sorts of stuff, about 2 years ago I went on the Mustang website, checked it out, saved up and ordered my new seats!

They were a 'Studded Solo with Driver Backrest' #79109 and a '12" wide Studded Passenger seat' #79132 and a matching 'Studded Contoured Backrest Pad' #79057. The fit, finish and quality are brilliant!

The drivers backrest is fully adjustable and is absolutely brilliant, everything fits spot on, it was packed perfectly and I received it in 7days!!

I then wrote in to their 'customer comments' section and received a couple of gifts a month or so later...a baseball cap and a tote bag! (whatever one of them is!) Their after sales service is amazing, you would think you were the only customer they got

Yeah, OK, I've gone on a bit, sorry but the whole buying, receiving, fitting and now using has been so easy and pleasurable!!

I'd send you a photo of mine if I knew how to upload it!!

Give them a look on the link....Hope this helps

How often did you stop during the 450 miles...I've done a couple cross county rides and I have found its not so much the total distance that kicks your put but it's the lack of stretching and water....You should stop every 100 miles or so top off the tank and get a bottle of water...Nothing cramps you faster than being dehydrated...I don't know of any seat that is comfy for a 450 mile ride without a couple of "gotta get off this scooter before my *** falls off" breaks...

One thing you can do is a sheep skin cover. They don't look all that great but on a 4 day trip from PA to Florida and back it helped. I bought the cover in Florida because my *** was killing me and with the sheep skin cover it really helped. The total miles on that trip was about 1,600. And by the way I took the trip on my old road king not my steet bob.

One thing always helps - empty your pockets. Sitting on the vibrator for hours with that wallet bangin your butt and keys and change whappin your legs gets old quick.

I agree with what some of the others have already said... aftertrying 9 seats over the past 5 years, there areNO seats that are pure comfort for extended periods oftime on a motorcycle. I've tried 3 Mustangs, mostly because of all the hype. I think that people tend to exaggerate the comfort of Mustangs, probably because they want to justify the $500 they just spent on a freaking motorcycle seat. Anyway, I was set up for disappointment for sure when I did a 400 mile day on my first Mustang. After a full day with a Mustang, I was only slightly less tired and stiff than with other seats I've tried.

I've got 900 miles planned for 3 days this week and, believe it or not, I'm doing it on the stock Low Rider seat. It's really 90% as good as anything I've tried.

I agree 99% except one fact. different seats for different butts. some people have no butt syndrome. some people have big butts. some people tha tride are 60 and over . some people are 18 .
