08 wide glide anniversary, trying to get it back to stock as much as possible, has screaming eagle stage 1 air cleaner kit, can I go back to stock and what effect will it have, has v&h big shots with no baffle which I plan to get
Can always go back to stock, not sure why one would want to though...stock sucks...effect - it'll make it stock again, small HP loss, may need it re-tuned, etc...
You want to know if you can change the air cleaner and exhaust back whatever came on the bike (it wasn't V&H, BTW)? Well, of course. The bigger question is, "do you want to pay for the parts and/or labor?"
What can you expect? A slower, quieter, heavier bike.
Really I just dont like how the se air cleaner sticks out and thought it would be cheaper to put stock back on, I'm good with the pipes but want some baffles so it doesnt shake the house

The Quiet baffles your going to need are the same one's I've got in my SS's and it will take the rasp out of it and make it sound real nice.
I suggest you try the QB's doing one step at a time. Your knee is going to touch the air cleaner regardless of what you put on it, it's a Dyna thing. The Short Shots are crazy loud without the baffles and now I can step out of the garage while it's warming it up and not even hear it until I get back. I think the QB's are going to make you feel better about the way it sounds, I can almost guarantee it.
The stock air cleaner probably isn't going to be any lower profile.
You hate how it digs into your knee?
I did. Tried several variations and the only thing that got it outta my way was one of the bent tube systems like this:
X2, instead of having the filter right at the throttle body opening, it pushes it forward, creating a TON of room for your knee. In fact I've only ever hit my knee on my DK custom 636V intake while trying to do so.
You'd have to work with a parts guy or gal (PC) to get the football air cleaner back on. I 've the open intake w/football cover on my two DYNAS and barely notice the rub / knee laying on the cover, both bikes have forward controls and my Road Glide Ultra is set up the same way, no problems with the knee/leg hitting it, that I am conscientiously aware of.
