I've been working on a rebuild of a highly-modified 1983 FXWG. I've been bit a few times by purchasing before verifying.
I measured my fork tubes at 41.2mm or 1.62". The local shop told me that my bike calls for a 39mm seal but, after checking the tubes, they sold me a kit (James JGI-45849-84) that appears to be 41mm. They didn't offer any explanation but I'm wondering what kind of forks I have. Is there a way to identify? I'm documenting this build so I'm collecting as much information as I can.

I'm certain Wide Glides through the years have had 41mm forks, based on FLH forks...where they originated from back in the pre-dyna day.
Wide Glide referring to the wider trees you were left with after all the other mods to the FLH front end when chopping a bike (on a budget)
