Just bought a used switchback, with 16" apes, quality job installing them obviously, but they used the stock bushings. I know I'm not going to die by riding the bike like that, but they are a bit sloppy.
Any of you guys have tall bars with stock bushings? Any pro's or con's to having stock vs poly bushings?
I'm no rookie, just never installed apes in the past without changing out bushings.
Hey no-rookie, I had 16s on my street bob with stock bushings. Really didn't bother me any. Everyone told me to upgrade the riser bushings but I didn't bother. There was a little more movement in the bars than before but nothin I would worry about.

Due to other mods, I had to swap from stock bushings to solid metal 10 degree angled ones with my 14" apes. These are understandably a rock solid mount and vibration isn't an issue, though I do have a "B" motor in my BO. Only downside is price:
I agree with solids. I put 3" extentions on my risers and they, the bars, became springy/floppy due to leverage. I put on some la chopper solid bushings and there was joy. I love them.
I am running LA choppers solid bushings as well. Absolutely no play in the bars. A buddy of mine has a 2010 SuperGlide which he used the stock rubber bushings on his 16" install. They were obviously worn and had a bunch of slop and play. I told him to go either poly or metal and he went poly. He is happy with it now.
