Close call/new jacket
Friday night I was sideswiped on my left hand side (driver was going to fast and couldn't stop so swerved into opposite lane so as to not rearend us), got SUPER lucky as it barely didn't knock me over. Did take out my shift peg and bracket, but not the shift lever (that's how close), ripped my jacket, and destroyed my leather pro bag.
It was a lamb skin jacket (I like the lightness), in my favorite riding hoodie and that jacket, I was very comfortable in 30 weather. I don't like riding jackets, never worn one that wasn't stiff or movement restricting. Anyone know of a lighter flowy jacket that isn't lamb skin?

WOW! That's the definition of a narrow escape! I'm glad you're asking for info on jackets instead of arms!

I know it's not real popular with the typical Harley crowd, but Cordura nylon with prebent sleeves and hinged back works real well for me. I have kinda broad shoulders and find many solid-back jackets don't let me reach forward very well before the jacket shoulders bind up. The pre-bent sleeves help keep the bunching and pulling at the elbow to a minimum.
Prior to my textile (Cordura) jacket I had only worn cow hide with hinged back panels. They are fine (for me) once broken in, but that can take a long time. I honestly prefer the textile now.
I prefer a close fit with lots of zippered vents and gussets for riding. Less ballooning, buffeting, drag, and safer. It's not as comfortable for general purpose, but I have other coats/jackets for that. My go-to for general purpose is a black reproduction Vietnam-era Army Field Jacket with removable quilted liner.
See if you can find a Cycle Gear in your area and try on a bunch of different gear. You may be surprised what works and what doesn't.

Lambskin is more of a fashion leather and rips easily - it is not protective. HD makes nice soft lightweight leather jackets, so does Leatherup, and you can find many brands at Revzilla, Motorcycle Superstore, etc. Just make sure its some kind of cowhide or buffalo. Glad you are ok!
