Default Difference in 2008+ and 2000 FXDL?

Can anyone explain the difference in the struts and dimensions between these two bikes? Found a company that makes some brackets ALOT cheaper than Sumax but they say only for 08+? Wondering if I could make them work on an 2000 model.

The Dyna frame was changed in 2006. You can make anything work depending on your skills as a fabricator.

I am pretty positive the strut mounting locations are the same on narrow and mid glide dynas. For instance if you order a set of Repop Defender bags they will bolt up to a 2000 or to a 201X dyna.

I'm pretty sure the spread on the mounting holes is different on the later model bikes. The defender repop bags have a much different mounting system than the brackets OP posted. I had a set of the great bike gear quick detach mounts off my 04 bike and they didn't work on my new bike, found a used set for 06+ on ebay luckily.

In doing some digging it seems the FXDL 2000-2001 changed in 2002 and then again in 2006.... Found this by comparing the docking hardware for detachable sissy bars. Still can't determine WHAT the change was but the part numbers for the brackets that attach to the struts are def different. Hoping someone knew the spacing difference so I could determine if I could fab a bracket from a 2006 if the difference wasn't much or if I should just start from scratch. Thanks for all the answers.
