No start dyna
94 wide glide, winter rebuild. Replaced stator, rotor, retifier due to broken plug. New battery 360 cca. New starter relay, new plugs, new wires. Started right up, ran like a champ. Then started having problems about 150 miles, would back fire and die. Cleaned carb, good high octane gas. Turns over, getting gas, tries to start, back fires once and that's it. Checked all connections, only thing left is coil. Have after market fire ball electronic ignition, crane dual fire coil. WTF, had the scoot for 23 years, first time the ole girl let me down. Any suggestions? Oh when it does run charges about 14 amp.

When it dies and won't restart, check the voltage at the coil with the key switch on. Chances are it will be very low. Should be about 1 volt less than battery voltage. Either the coil or HI-4 took a dump. On cold start, everything works. After it heats up, it dies. It's loosing it electrical tolerances at heat. If you still have the OEM coil, put it back on and go for a ride. If it dies out again, replace the HI-4. Hope this helps.
