in the gravel. Yep. I need some ideas on my "shop" floor. She gets stored in an enclosed wood shed that is packed to the brim with stuff. No room to work in there and can't get rid of some of the stuff stored.
So I have a 20x20 metal building with no sides. Floor is gravel and can't afford concrete slab at this time. The gravel is more of a granite road base type material and is not packed too good.
What would you guys and gals do? Maybe a wood subfloor on one side (truck parked on other side) until I can afford a slab? And I do plan on enclosing this carport in the future...
Yup. Just throw down some plywood. Maybe two layers of 3/8 screwed together with the seams offset by half the width to prevent the edges from curling up.
Yup, good advice above, plywood and/or carpet remnant.
A friend has carpet down and it's kind of nice, if you drop a small nut/bolt it doesn't bounce 6' and roll into the nearest hiddey hole to be lost to another dimension in time!
Plywood is going to warp on you as it gets wet. Maybe a simple 2x4 frame under the plywood so you have something to screw it to and help it resist warp age. Pressure treated lumber and marine grade plywood may also be a worthwhile investment in your circumstance. Good luck.

Thanks! That was my original thought when I mentioned subfloor (I may not be calling it what it really is). A simple stable surface is what I'm looking for.
I started out 61 years ago doing all the work on a gravel driveway with the most basic of tools. Luxury was having a big enough piece of cardboard to lay on.
