im working on my 2002 softail, and i am removing old stock exhaust for big radius 2:1. the last stud on the back pipe the nut stopped near the end and after soaking it in oil , and tried some heat it still broke the stud but leaving some sticking out. the way it broke though i can not start a nut on it and i do not have any dies. any ideas on what i can do before i try to brake it flush and drill it
Can you get Vise Grips on it? Probably not considering the area it's in.
There are several stud removal tools available as well. Get one of those and apply some heat to the area around the stud and hopefully it will come out.
BTW, you put your question in the Dyna section. Softail section is one door down.
Some of the stud removal tools work with a ratchet and tighten more as you turn.
If you end up cutting the rest of it off flush, use the flange as a guide by bolting down on the good stud. This will give you a fighting chance at staying centered on the stud as you drill.
