Youtube videos do not give you a good idea of what the pipe sounds like... figure out aesthetically what looks good to you... pick 2 or 3, then make your way around some dealerships and rallys to locate the pipes you like, installed on bikes and hear them in person. Just my 2 cents.

Excellent strategy.
So far, I like the look of the Rinehart 2 into 1. Is this considered a loud pipe? Any idea how it performs?
There are so many nowdays, Most are performance orientated (the whole point of a 2-1) so find one you like the look of and sound of and you cant go wrong. It's a personal preference.
I really like my Bassani RR3 besides constantly burning holes in my jeans.

Would it be safe to say that just about any 2 into 1 will out perform even the best pair of slip-ons?
I cannot speak for the other exhausts out there, however i installed the vance and hines 2 into 1 short on my FXDLS about a week ago.
it is ****ING LOUD. i have heard a plenty of loud exhausts before and this definitely ranks up there with some of the louder ones. So stay away from that if you dont want loud.
