I'm having discomfort in elbow tendons with aftermarket handlebars on my FXDF; they're a dirt track style, about 32" wide. Someone suggested the FXDC bars had more of a pullback style bend in the grip. I get no discomfort when I ride my brothers FXD with 12" Harley fat mini apes...but don't want those on the Fat Bob; suggestions?? I think my problem is grip angle...just started this year after over 6 years with current bars. (getting older)
Hard to say if we can't see your stance. usually if shoulders and elbows start hurting...having bars closer to the body will help. Less extension and reach with less load typically. Pull back risers.
Not including the bars on my bike I have 5 different style bars hanging on my garage wall. No **** I have a nerve disorder in my left arm and finding the right bars has been a challenge to say the least. What I can't get my wife to understand is how important handlebars are to your riding position and how even a small adjustment can make a huge difference in riding comfort. She's never ridden a motorcycle so she has to take my word for it. I've found the Buck horn style with 2" riser extensions seem to be working for me at present but I have yet to take a long distance ride yet this year so we'll see.
Here's something to convince your wife . It's an example we use here in the medical field.
tell her to stretch out both arms horizontally so they point forward. Ask her to hold it as long as she can in this position. After minute or so she will have to drop her arms down.
the purpose of this is to just show when your body is not at an ergonomic position, it can put a strain really fast on the body.
