I've picked up plenty of items for my newly acquired 2007 FXDC on Amazon over the past couple of months...the selection of parts was really broad and the pricing was great.
Just went on tonight to browse for some ideas, and all of a sudden, the selection of items for my bike is complete crap! For instance, there used to be hundreds, I think, of seats/sissy bars that fit my bike. Probably hundreds of exhaust items, too! Now just about 40 of each. Like the items are just gone, or they somehow screwed up the filter for my bike.
The FP3 Fuelpak number 66007 that I just bought (and have used successfully) from Amazon for my bike now shows that it doesn't fit my bike? WTF?
I tested and input a 2008 FXDC to see if it was a glitch for my model year, but I got similarly poor selection.
Besides your Prime membership gives you two day shipping. I placed an order that said Prime shipping. I placed the order and it said it would arrive in 5 days. Thats not the deal Amazon. I bought a cheap coffee pot for the garage on a Thursday morning and it arrived on Friday.
Nothing changed today, so I started a chat session and found out that there are inventory updates being done at Amazon fulfillment centers that are causing the issue.
I was told that the updates should be done by the 20th.
Those amazon fitment are sometimes helpful but not always reliable.
For fitment I would rely on the information myself gather from around the net or other riders or from this site with direct experience.
If you know the fitment across diff models you will save money as well. I have tens of examples that a part that is compatible between different years has higher price for certain years than other years.
It's mind boggling how they can do it like this so efficiently. The only complain is that they let some foreign sellers such as chinese start selling counterfeits on the site. You still get your money back, in some instances get to keep the item for free. But it is a waste of time and energy
