You are correct. They aren't dynas but they are definitely not the previous softail; they have ground clearance and they handle phenomenally. They are completely different, I rode one and they are awesome.
When H-D finished the 17 Touring line last year and officially announced that the other lines would have a "Unified Frame" did you not understand? Or did no one pay attention?
Sport bikes have monoshocks as do dirt bikes because they are a better performing design. Or do you love the vague weave and wobble of the past Dyna's and loved to spend money on special braces? Where did the complaints about the rubber mounted swing arms go.
You don't like a stiffer frame, less weight or much stronger performance?
The M8 should yield about 50 mpg so most of you will be off the seat before the low fuel light comes on. I get 50 mpg on the 17 RGS with stage I. I should get better on the 18 Fat Bob when I get it.
the heart and soul of not dyna. long name but, i think it works
they have a name... softail. they aren't dynas.... no idea why this thread was started in the DYNA SECTION! asking it here is now the same as asking it in the vrod or sportster section.
Street Fighters - that is what they are capable of.
That's little bit of an overstatement. I'm thinking more of good, usable power that will make for a fun ride. No reason to break out the Screamin' Eagle catalog to make these new bikes road worthy at least. That's a huge step for HD, IMO.
don't knock it until you ride it.. if we get the handling to match the low end grunt
we are going to have some fun machines..
Again, it'll ride great for a softail. The softail desperately needed some upgrades. That doesn't make it a dyna. The new 107 has great potential when built. In stock form it's pretty unimpressive. Has better throttle response but only about 5hp & ft lbs more than a 103, whew! Hang on!! It'll still need a $5k motor + supporting mods and suspension to be fun imo.
