Default 05 and 06 upper shock stud mount difference

I've been checking all over the internet for some time now and can't find an answer. Im looking to install new rear shocks on my 2002 FXDX. Shocks i want to use are for 2006 and newer dynas (Legend suspension REVO-A). Ive read they can be used if i switch to the newer 2006 and up upper shock mount studs. I want to know what the difference between the 2005 and down and 2006 and up shock mount upper studs are?? is there a difference in the diameter of the stud. Why am in unable to use these shocks with my current studs?

I thought the shocks fit the same. There are some upper stud variations from year to year, but I don't think they affect fit of the shock.
