Default Riser bolt questions..

Replaced my 1.5 inch riser to a 3 inch riser, the bolts? Should they be tight? Yes a stupid question but I let a shop do the work and wouldn't you think they would tighten them up?
I have never had to loosen a bolt with so little effort. I now know why my bars would flap effortlessly when hands were off the bars..
If I hadn't waited so long to do this work... This is an instance I would most likely be taking actions against them..

I won't flag the name here, but in South Carolina if you need work done pm me and I will be glad to tell you their name..

Whoa...

40 ft-lbs on those riser bolts

Glad you're still here to tell the tale; disconnect yourself from those bars and all sorts of bad can happen...

Hind sight...but do it yourself next time to make sure it’s done right. Especially for something as simple as risers/bolts/riser extensions.

Did you contact them and ask what bloke didn’t tighten something so important? May be a training lesson in his/her future but they’ll never know unless you become a squeaky wheel.

I'll look now that I'm home.. I was out when I was ranting.
Unfortunately the work was 9 months ago but I do see those bolts falling out in a bit few months had I not cone the swap..
Everything is now tight.. And has loctite on every bolt.

Out of convenience is the only reason I've used that one shop.. But as the song says... Won't get fooled again!

If you mean the 1/2” bolts going up through the bottom of your top triple tree (through the riser bushings) they are not what tejasjeff are showing. If they are #8 then 30-40 ftlbs

What tejasjeff posted are the clamp values.

Due to my not so good tech skills the image didn’t come through correctly..page 142 item 8. Above the all models section says “Tighten riser fasteners to 30-40 ft-lbs (40.7-54.2 Nm).”

So I’m good and so will the OPs after he redoes the HD techs work. ;-)
