Over on youtube I seen you had several videos on different headlights. My questions are, which one was the best that you tried no matter the price? Which was the best bang for your $? Thanks in advance for your input.

the jw speaker 8690[A] is my favorite and the custom dynamics trubeam/vision x vortex (same light) is a close second.
the trubeam dumps harsh massive light everywhere but, the 8690a puts light where it needs to be and has a softer yet bright light. tough call but, the 8690a is just the bee's knees to me.

This x1000. I couldn’t believe how much a good headlight would help make night riding so much more fun. You have to experience the adaptive part to truly appreciate it. Definite must do for any bike I get. Plus the light show when you first it up is pretty cool!

Thanks for your input guys! rbdub474, you are building one awesome bike!
From watching cvaria's videos ( I didn't realize he had tested so many different ones) it looked like the JW speaker was the best by a slight margin, but in real use it could be a different story. Those adaptive lights are pretty cool, and should help night vision a bunch. If anyone else has any input feel free to post!
I tested a clone of the adaptive (7") on the road and found the light to be very pleasing. As Cvaria said, it's soft but illuminates well.
I run Cibie e-code housings and Philips x-treme +130% bulbs in my Miata (7" also) and LOVE THEM. They aren't quite as bright as HIDs but the beam pattern is fabulous. For ~$100 (for 2 bulbs & 1 housing), they are definitely worth a look IMO.
We had a nice thread (link) where I laid out a bunch of impressions and pics. The pics are dead links now and it's tough to rebuild old threads now due to the edit restrictions but I still have them if you're interested.
For further research, try searching Google for Jeep Wrangler headlight tests. They use the same lamps as us in many cases.

What do you guys mean when you refer to the adaptive part about the cd light?
the CD isn't adaptive. it's just BRIGHT!!!
the jw speaker an CGMacguyver's import are adaptive. when you turn into a corner or switch lanes (make bike lean), the lean trips the accelerometer or counterbalance to active little sub light to brighten the new direction of travel.
Ive had mine since early spring. Definitely a game changer.
Yes it is! After watching all the videos on it, nothing else compares. Just go to you tube and look at cvarias videos and you can see the difference. I just thought i'd ask to be certain that it was the same in real life.
