I have matte or denim paint and I use a line of products by "dr.beasleys" which we started using in my body shop and it works well every thing from soap to sealant to "wax"

Pig Spit is good stuff. Original Bike Spirits is also good, which I use when I've run out of PS for the wrinkle black...

HD makes cleaner specifically for the denim paint. Dish soap is cheaper. I wouldn't risk the use of standard bike/car wash soaps.

+1 on that advice.

OP, I wouldnt use dish soap on any paint, tank or cars. A cheap car wash soap like Mothers will last you a long time and it works great. Wash it then use a paint sealant and it will be good for 6 months. Just wipe it down with a wet cloth once in a while.

For my denim black I use store brand Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo. As it has no wax.

30 years ago I use to take a bottle of Mr. Clean mix it 1/2 & 1/2 with water, and used
a paint brush to clean engines of road grime. Now days S-100 spray it on, use water to
spray it off.

So I bought a can of the "pig spit" but I'm a little hesitant to use it. From what I've read here it's to make the black of the engine look deeper but am I supposed to just spray it on? There's a lot going on around the motor...chrome and stuff, so is it ok to get it on that stuff as well? Will I need to polish it off the chrome? The gloss black frame?

Thanks,
Steve

Isn't the whole point of Denim paint to allow the paint to wear and not look brand new??

Just spray it right on; any that might get on some of the chrome or other areas you don't want it on will easily wipe off. I only use Pig Spit on clean and dry engine cases, then allow it to sit. I usually have to wipe off the pushrod covers, upper portions of the exhaust, etc. There's never been a problem getting Pig Spit on spark plug wires or electrical connectors and it just takes a few minutes to clean up the overspray on the chrome.

If you begin to use Pig Spit on a regular basis the engine cases do take on a much deeper black and it lasts. This image was taken on the last day my bike was out before her winter's sleep. You can see how dark the cases are; and I did spray down the cases again once the cases were dry I pick up Pig Spit on eBay in either 2 or 4 can packs on the cheap...
