I hear you on the seal nearby. Not that much heat though. The notches I cut in the race were because the two jaw puller wouldn't fit behind the race, so I came out towards the end, and cut a notch on either side that the jaws could grab on. Heat was applied with a handheld butane torch. The kind you would also use with a soldering tip. Very controlled. If that had not have worked, I had already made my mind up to split the race lengthwise with the dremel tool. In other words, cut nearly through the entire length of the race, then use a nut splitter to bust it.
Andrews, 34 tooth. Using the 34 tooth front and International rear allows you to keep the stock length 06 belt. The new HWY legs should go nicely with JoeMinton's 95" mod.
If you're referring to whatI said about 4spd Evo Sportsters in the other thread, I don't know. I'm one of those who would like to see rebates for warranty waved because to me anyway, ain't worth the paper it's printed on. In other words, my piece of mind is priceless.I do my own wrenching, do it right!
with the warranty covering it, may as well have the squealer do it.
You made that puller, huh? .................................................. ..
You're right about the warranty Tim.
The job is not overly complicated at all, the service manual covers it well.
The other tool I made for this operation is simply a 1/4"x7"x1" chunka flat stock.
Locks the sprockets for removal of the nuts.
mud
Mud, if the squealer jacks me around with some week or longer repair date, I'm sure I'll be getting ahold of you, as I will be doing it myself. I might even add the Hayden M6 chain tensioner while I have the primary off. Been reading alot about the HD tensioner chittin the bed on folks. Tim
