It barely clips on there. Took it off to get to the battery cover screw to install trickle charger connector.
Less than a week old and I have started picking the bike apart. Sorry its my process. The pipes need to go, the bars need to go, but wtf is up with the crappy plastic piece which I have used my crayon to circle? I am afraid to take it off since the connections underneath are exposed, but HD couldn't come up with anything better. Stupid question, but have any other S owners addressed this issue. I can almost see this winging off at higher speeds.
Just about 13k miles and hasnt fallen off or even been loose. Several people have complained about it but so far nobody has designed a better option. I dont even notice it. But if someone designs some snazzy cover I would be interested because I cant stop! Haha!!
19k miles on my lrs and it hasn't popped off. If you're that worried about it, you can secure it with zip ties. One side hooks into a bracket, and the other side sort of snaps in, so just put a zip tie on each side, and you'll know it will never come off, and the zip ties won't be visible either.
