I’ve got until Friday to get this issue fixed. Noticed it last night when rolling the bike into the garage. Any ideas? Inner primary bearing? Leaf stuck in sprocket? Will pull rear wheel later when I get home. Can’t isolate that rubbin sound either. 2002 FXDX. This is with bike off and in neutral
Is the sound coming from the front (primary area) or the rear? If it sounds like it's coming from inside the primary I would suspect a primary chain tensioner. You'll have to remove the outer primary anyway and it should be pretty easy to track down from there.

It did sound like it’s the primary area. When I put my finger on the drive belt and rotate the wheel, I can actually feel the “clicks” transferring into the belt, if that makes sense. Any ideas as to what that horrible rubbing sound is? I can’t seem to locate it. Can’t see anything rubbing
I would take the belt guard off and with a flashlight look up into your trans pulley area. Sounds like somethings up in the, like something got lodged up in there and is running on the back ribbed side of the belt....
I'm with these guys. Drain the primary and pull the cover and you will have a better idea what it is and where the noise is coming from. You could just get it upright and pull the clutch cover and see if that gets you closer to pinpointing but it seems whatever the actual issue is that you have to get in to the primary anyway.

Sounds like (and looks like) the belt is too tight - adjust to the correct tension - then test again
