Default Replacing handlebar levers on 2017 Dyna Street Bob

Hey everyone.

I bought new clutch and brake levers for my Dyna, but I'm having trouble finding removal/installation guides in the Dyna service manual and online.... what gives?

I see some tutorials that include draining the transmission fluid and rewiring all the cables just to install new levers. Is this accurate?

I'd also appreciate a handlebar replacement guide if possible. I do not need to re-run the wires because I plan on replacing a 10" bar with another 10".

Thanks in advance!

Matt

For the levers, there is a little “C” clip on the underside of the housing, remove that, push the pin out and the lever just pops out...sort of.

Clutch side, you have to Give the cable some slack, turn the adjuster so that the cable is really loose, then do the clip, pin and pull the lever out. Pretty simple when you look at it.

If you have a parts manual it will show you how it looks....

Check yootoob for a tutorial in their "how to" section. Which brand levers did you get?
I put RSD adj levers on my GF's FXDL. They worked great, and look good doing it. She traded that bike in on a Street Triple. It's 2/3rd's the weight. Maybe less than that...

How do you remove the "C" clip (#4 in the photo)?

I have a couple picks but can't separate them. Think I need some kind of needle nose pliers but damn the holes are small.

Is there a tool I don't know about good for this?

You need an internal/external expanding ring tool.

Went to the hardware store and found some retaining ring pliers. Worked like a charm! Installed! Grips installed too!

Now for the mirrors

Unscrew old mirrors, screw new mirrors on. 1/2" wrench required. Adjust as necessary. Just kidding. Changing **** is half the fun. Enjoy!
