Default Diy jack

So i saw a diy jack for cheap on youtube. My question is has anyone used one of these on their street bob?

It consist of 2 pieces of lumbar, a 3/4 threadind metal pipe and flange.

I was pretty nervous trying to use it. I asked my girlfriend to get on the bike and stand it up while i lift it but she can already barley tippy toe w the bike upright as is.

So i started to lift it and it seemed to be working but shes just to short for it. And the space for the back tire to raise it up is so minimal. Between the rubber and the notch its about 2 inches play. And past that in the middle section and beyond its about 4 1/2 inches maybe. The boards together is about 3 1/2 inches together. Its a lil sketchy it seems. But just trying to lift it a lil it scrapped some of the finishing on the bottom of the frame.

So my second question, does anyone have any suggestion what to use to wrap the boards w so it doesnt scratch up the paint.

Use pipe insulation...just wrap it over top...

I have an all metal version of this and use the foam pipe wrap...

All very good ideas. The foam wrap sounds like the best idea so far. Have you done tgis on a dyna? On the rear underside? The front underside has plenty more space.

I use mine on both my dyna’s all the time. Especially if I just want to raise either the front or rear wheel. Just remember to keep the bike in gear when lifting the front

Ok thanks. Thats good advice. I wouldnt of thought about putting it in gear to be honest lol. I feel more confident in using it now. Do you get the bike up on it by yourself?

I made one for my Switchback. Used it once and cut it up and burned it in the wood stove. Then I bought the $90 Harbor freight lift and modded it for Dynas.

Well i suppose just buying a jack in the first place would be more productive. But i was trying to save some dough. With a baby on the way and needing the funds to build a storage and nursey to make room for the new addition. But in the end i really need to get a jack!!

But i got some pipe insallation. The wrap around kind. I wasnt sure how to do it. Used some qll purpose glue to hold it down. Its a big mess! Lol. Was going to try n use it but it started raining. Doh, to be continued....
