I went for a ride today and the bike started falling apart. I lost a BUNCH of stuff. Damn Sportsters are always loosing parts.
First I am missing the headlight and front brake. Headlight darn near hit me in the head!
Then the lifters popped out and went bouncing into a tailgating Suburban. Knocked out his windshield. Then the carb went flying after I swerved to missa Cherokee that tried changing lanes while I was right next to him.
The seatstuck to my as$when I parked it because my shorts were so full of ****.
The wifey wanted to sit on what was left before it completely dissintigrated!
This is actually my winter project I got back in March. It still needs a few things but it is about 90% all here, the rest of the 90% is still in boxes waiting for me to get the other 10%. I will be building the sissy bar, oil tank, battery box and a few other things the way I want them not the way some worker bee builds them to make his boss rich.
I have a completion date of "end of next winter" making it an official "winter project". As Specs stated, ebay has been of tremendous help (with patience for the correct auctions) along with a couple forum members and friends.
The main goal is to have this bike completed without spending any more than $2000.00 (minus paint). So far I am within my budget and still have more to spend.
Very kool build.............keep us posted.......My plan on mine is to befinished in 90 days......fer sure by nov. for the lonestar ralley......always wanted to ride a rigid 10 hrs..............LO.............
Thanks for the compliment Mud. i catch pictures of your build in various threads and it is coming along very nicely also.
Spence, the plans came off the net. After searching and searching I finally found a free set of plans and went for it. Very stable but I should have gone wider than 4', 6-8' would have been ideal.
Lolife, keep us updated on yours, it will be interesting to see another Sporty build as I am doing mine. I do not think I will be riding this for more than 1 hour at a time (bar hopper).
