tail light/license plate relocation kit?
Dave
I really like these rear turn signal lights! If I could put these with that relocation kit that would be so awesome! Think it would look so clean. But I can't pay 200 and something now just for lights. Not right now anyways.
Anyways I have read a nice detailed post on installing the relocation from this forum. And the wired for the lights were somewhat of an issue. The wires from under the seat to the lights get a little to short for liking. Not enough play. So I was thinking if i put smaller stand offs on it'd kind of help with the issue.?
Where could I purchase these smaller stand offs from?
I found these from drag specialist but I'm not to sure if they will work with the stock bullets or mount ok with the license plate.

So the kit provided 4 bolts w nylon nuts to secure it to the back fender. Oh, and a tear drop cover to cover that hole where the wires would go through, so the bolt can be tightened in its place. Are these nuts strong enough to stay in place and hold those bolts in black and most in importantly, hold the fender in place?

Loctite is definitely single-use. It must reapplied with every fastener reuse. The threads should be cleaned before repplication.
I can't comment on the strength of your pictured fasteners. Fender bolts should grade 5, I believe. Google bolt grade identification to see what you have.
That tape APPEARS to be a typical foil faced duct sealing tape available at any home center. That seems kinda hinky to me. If it IS a factory item, the dealer should have the right stuff. My fender had steel clips. Any time you use adhesive the mating surfaces must be clean and oil free to work properly.
I, personally, do use an electrical contact protectant on most things. It may not be strictly necessary but I live in the rust belt and it does seem to help longevity and reliability.

But yes i would like a picture. Im more fond of pictures besides it bei g described. Thats why i post alot of pictures when i make a post.
I see. I'll just have to buy new nylon nuts to put them on if i remove the bolts again. Which i think i will have to. There needs to be washers inbetween the sissy bar and fender strut. It says to use the stock ones but they are snug tight on the top of the bolt so taking them off aint working. And i did not think to ever wash the bolt when reapplying loc tight. Nice tip.
so if you dont trust nylon nuts, what do you recommend? Should i just get a regular metal nut? Because im weary about leaving them on myself. I remember using these type of nuts on my skateboards. But wouldnt trust them to hold a fender.
the tape was already in plave under my fender. Bought my bike brand new from the dealer and thats what they had used. I do have that metal bracked on the inside but it has plastice clips on the inside also attatched to it where the wires are held down. Then that tape went off that plastic piece and on the inside of the fender.
i was debating whether to use dialectrical grease on the connectors under the seat. But i wasnt sure if it would ruin anything. But now i know. Thanks.
