On the 13 Street Bob I went with V&H staggered short shots even though they are not the best for power. I simply liked the style.
I loved the way my short shots looked, but they're junk in every other way. Sound too high pitched and tinny, still extremely loud to the rider since theyre so short even with the quiet baffle, they dont have has much lean angle clearance as other pipes (the front pipe will hit at the bend), and the bracket for mine cracked completely in half. along with they dont make trash for low and mid range power, however they're decent the last thousand RPM before redline.
No way would I ever consider or recommend them for a higher displacement engine.
sawicki speed shop hand makes all their pipes in different styles. their 2-1 pipes have the most beautiful ****in tig welds, they run about a grand. https://www.sawickispeedshop.com/
Special engine deserves a special exhaust.
Custom built, on the bike, from racing materials...inconel or titanium.
It is very expensive

I agree, from short pipes is not a deep sound

fab 28 could get you the note but expect to pay 1500+ minimum
1500+ is already expensive for me
I wanted no more than 1200

Not suitable for power to the motor
PS I was told, or are they wrong?
any 2-1 pipe is gonna be your best exhaust for power, straight pipes kill you low end. honestly most companys make really good pipes. imo the best are vance and hines for power, their 2-1 is race proven and all their about is hp and drag racing, so they know their stuff. just make sure you get a good free flow intake and a power commander or some fuel managment system and get it dyno'ed. cant go wrong with that...
If you're looking for a deep, beautiful sound, in my opinion I'd stay away from the bassani. I had one and while it was a great quality exhaust, for me the tone was always a bit too tinny and the annoying decel noise is like someone dumped a bag of marbles in the muffler. Never fell in love with the sound of it. Just my 2 pennies.
RedThunder would be another option I'd look into, believe it is in your price range...

I've got some great results with the V&H Pro Pipe on a Dyna.
