I use AAA - about $80.00/year for both me and the wife. Anything we are driving is covered even if we don't own it. I've never waited longer than 1 hr. to get a truck to me. That includes when I had my F350 off in the ditch due to ice on the road.
Haven't tried them with bikes (knock on wood) but I was chatting with the service guy at the stealer, he said they bring bikes in all the time on AAA trucks.
I really wouldn't mind if I had to pay a few bucks, I just don't want to sit somewhere for hours or days waiting for my "HOG benifit" to arrive.
Anyone got any experiance with AAA and getting help on a bike? I'd like to know if I am just deluding myself
Buddy of mine the other day broke down in Globe, AZ. 100 miles away from his local shop. Hog covers 100 dollars and thats it. Considering 65 of those dollars is used for 'hook up', the other 35 bucks can maybe take you accross the parking lot. Don't think i'll be renewing this year.. my insurance has far better coverage.
Unless AAA has changed their policy in the past few years, they don't help bikes out. I had a flat at 80 mph in Maine one afternoon, tank-slapped my way to the shoulder and coasted under an overpass to get out of the sun. Called AAA and once they realized I was on a bike they immediately told me I was on my own- didn't even offer to make a call for me. A few minutes later a guy with a flat bed drove by and found the damage and had a tire plug to fit it. I was there for a total of about 45 minutes. Thank God some people out there still stop to see if they can help.

I blew a new 103 install on my '05 UC this summer in west Texas. Called HOG and they were useless. Didn't have a clue as to my location; said they could help if I was in San Antonio, but couldn't find someone to get to my bike. Cost would grossly exceed benefit offered by HOG. Just gave up with them and called closest HD dealer and they called someone a couple of hundred miles away; had them come out on their invoice, pickup bike and they handled everything else. I hitched a ride with the tow truck to San Antonio airport and rented a car to get home.
I've got Motorcycle/RV coverage with AAA and have had no problems with them. They've got service everywhere and have flatbedsat all locationsbecause of the need to haul AWD vehicles. Usual wait time and no issues. Wouldn't want to depend on HOG for anything.
Wanted to add, it is an optional coverage over the usual membership. I think it adds $17 or $19 a year. Bargain.
better check you AAA it most likely does not cover the motorcycle being towed. Mine does not but I dont have the AAA plus. However, hog has been good so far only needed them once and they were picking me up within the hour.
