I just put on the mustang solo with backrest this winter... haven't been out for any long runs yet, but I like it so far. I had the touring seat with backrest from HD. The only reason I changed was to give my wife a better pillion.

I've had three back surgeries... no matter what you do, if you want to get out there for long runs, I would suggest going with the backrest. For me, anything over about 25 miles without the backrest is too much.

p.s if you order from mustang direct.remind them of the 1.00 shipping fee, or they will charge you like 17.00 .
What's this all about?
Do they offer a shipping discount to HDF members, or something?

I bought my Vintage Solo over a year ago, logged about 4,000 miles on it and it is MUCH more comfortable than just about any other seat I've bought and way better than the stocker. I like the seat, it is comfortable on a long ride and gives me good support, but like has been said, everyone's backside is different. I also got the $1.00 shipping directly from Mustang and after 2 long rides, never thought about sending the seat back.

Have had my Mustang Vintage Solo (standard width not the wide one) for about 200 miles now and love it - did move me back about an inch (good) and up slightly (not so good to me). I'm 6' and 190lbs and it's very comfortable and firm. Right after I put it on, I had a slight mishap and badly bruised my tail bone, but said "screw it, I gotta try out the new seat", so took it on a short hour plus jaunt over not so smooth back roads. My back side was hurting pretty bad whenever I sat on anything for very long (car, chair, couch, etc), but it didn't hurt at all on the ride w/the new Mustang, and that's with heavy duty 11" progressive shocks on back and progressive springs in front. Back is feeling better now, and the Mustang is even more comfortable the more I ride it - guess it needs a little breaking in (?). Nice little lower back support, and now I feel like I'm riding in the seat and not on it like with the stock seat. And I saved a bundle (like $80 or so with free shipping) buying on line. Figured Mustangs were popular enough I could always sell it w/o losing any $$ at a swap meet or on eBay if I didn't like it.

Had one on my Sportster and liked it. It does need a break in peroid of 500-1000 to reach it's maximum comfort. Did raise me up about 1" over the stock seat.
