Roger that.
Here is the dilemma.
I have been offered a new in the box 103 to 110 Tire Shredder kit including a 50 MM SE throttle body and injectors to fit my drums switchback at a huge discount (like 50% off kind of deal) from a friend who bought it but then has to sell bike etc due to divorce.
The kit comes with SE259 cams.
Its exactly as listed by HD as far as everything else. Never out of the boxes.
So so my understanding if Cams is pretty awful but I had landed on the Woods TW-999-6A for the Fuel Moto standard big bore 103 to 110 kit.
I am am seeking better pull from midrange third up.
I would put a DnD Fat Cat 2 into 1 with the kit as well as probably an SE Heavy Breather.
I feel eel like the SE259 is probably a good middle of the road cam but I am not sure.
What at would you suggest for this equipment and my goals? I do about 75-100 miles a day in the southwest United States. Some of it is on the highways at 75-85 mph. We dont have much humidity here at all. Mostly desert climate.
I am am not sure the TW-999-6A is exactly the right cam anyway. Folks say many recommend it and use it more for the slower lope sound but I would rather have the performance gain then an acoustic signature.
Any my thoughts or ideas please? This deal I think is too good to pass up.
not a dilemma at all. take it. tire shredder kit is no joke. it will rip the fur off a stock fxdls.
just use some of that saved money beefing up your cam chest and cooling.
my thoughts exactly. I think I would have to be nuts not to take the deal.
Sooooo time to figure out as much as I can about cams so I choose wisely n stuff. 👍

leave it alone. the parts in that kit were picked to work work together. me with the formula and you'll be on your own.
So after some careful consideration and some advice from guys who have travelled this path and described their success and failures and considering my less than acceptably adequate understanding of the way cams work etc, I have decided to heed cvaria’s advice and leave the cam selection as it comes in the kit.I can surmise that the powers that be at HD thought carefully about the equipment the chose for the kit. Therefore I may very well be smart not to attempt “improve” upon the kit using my own very limited knowledge of the subject matter.
If in time I truly feel a change makes sense, I can do so. But until then maybe assuming the kit can be made better through what would assuredly be my own guesswork is tantamount to just being too smart for me own good.
The 259 appears ro have what I am looking for and about the only SE cam I could see replacing the 259s with would be the 585. Why not try things out first for awhile and revisit the matter when and if I truly don’t like the results.
Here's a question question how long has your bike set up for?
The reason I ask is that the guy I bought my bike from rarely rode it, and I had the tensioners checked within a few days of purchasing. And one oil change later they granaded! And I had abnormal wear on my cams develop in that time frame as well.
I have had someone go thru the bike throughly and they thought that this was odd that it went to crap in 2500 miles.
Mind you these miles were not hard or rides weren't longer than a hundred miles at a time.
Just a thought
ROGER THAT. The bike has been ridden quite a bit. If nothing else, installation of this kit will serve as a defacto refresh I think.

I can add only 1 MAJOR and RELEVANT Longevity minded and STRENGTH Minded accessory or improvement : SWITCH over to a 530 O-Ring Chain and Sprockets ( 23 tooth Transmission Sprocket - and a 48 to 51 Rear Tooth Sprocket) - depending on your engine size and top end fullfilment and or low end torque requirements .

What made you go this route? Am interested. I have thought about the age of the drive belt and associated parts and have to wonder if suddenly increasing the power being sent through the current one could be a location for expensive issues. I would think that the age and fatigue on the stock equipment is not really an issue.....for a stock motor but this will be far from stock once the work is all done.
EDIT. Update. I grabbed the Tire Shredder kit 92500037 off my buddy this morning. Tried to just give him the money but the little Fkr wouldn't take it. (Stubborn as a mule). I was going to just give it back as a birthday gift but apparently he is selling off his bike so his psychotic ex can't get it. It may be coming up on the Classifieds soon. Holding off until all my pieces of this puzzle are in place and the action is underway. Then someone else is going to get a pretty good deal on it. Stay tuned. hehe Umm the kit....not the bike. Myself and a couple other buds will probably buy the bike so it doesn't leave our inner circle. Then when the coast is clear, we'll sell it back to him. None of us will ride it. We just can't let that bitch force him to get rid of it without looking out for his interests. Nope. Not gonna happen. hehe
Well, now that the god like and omniscient VT81 has spoke, I guess we will have to remove our chain drives and replace them with gear drives. We do so very much so value your opinion and appreciate you taking your time away from being an 81 and a fighter pilot and celebrating anyone of your 6 birthdays and your military service and your S&S master tec and being friend of the Pope and.... Yada Yada Yada...*******
