Wonder how much of that is a difference in bikes/engines. Cause I do 20mph in 1st, and 35mph in 3rd. Course I live with hills and might need the power...? Like I could coast a gear up but I'm not going to really go anywhere in a hurry if I give it gas. Suppose I should go check my manual, lol.

My street Bob rarely sees more than 3200 rpm in any gear and only sees >3000 rarely. Just not my riding style to ride at high RPM.

Why? Are you trying to beat it? Anyone can damage a bike.
Check and maintain the oil level, maintain proper care of primary and transmission fluids, keep proper tire pressure.
Then ride it like you stole it.! You'll be fine.

Shift points are usually at 3000 and 3500 RPM for normal cruise up-shifting.
