Granted it is an extreme anology and it is my bike, and I certainly will do what I want with it, as I am sure you will do with yours.
What I think is a little offensive is that members such as WS6 Formula go to great pains posting instructions, taking pictures, etc. and provide a great time saver method for doing a job. The original poster had asked for suggestions. I think that this is the greatest benefit of this and other forums. If something in the method bothers someone, they don't have to do it.
I think that the hacksaw reference is a little extreme also. WS6 Formula also gave detailedinstructions on how to do this without harming your bike.
If it bothers some that they took longer, paid a dealer , etc.I think they should keep these comments to themselves.
When you say thatRIGHT way to do something is this way, you are also implying that the WRONG way is the other.
I appreciate the time and effort that WS6 Formula saved me with his instructions.
If you like wrenching, like to see how your bike ticks, enjoy spending time in the garage , etc, God bless you!! I just don't think flaming another guy for an alternative, time saving method is fair.
I see. One man's comment is another man's flame. I implied nothing. OP was looking for suggestions, I offered one. Sorry if I rubbed anybody the wrong way.
You know, I'm craving a steak for some reason tho'....
Why not leave the shaft in? I did the complete install in under an hour, used the shaft cover and have never had anyone question what it is. If you can't install a set of forward controls,God help your wallet when something really bad goes wrong!
