Default Primary Leak

05 Super Glide, Just changed Engine and Transmission oil. Everything was running fine prior to doing so. About 120 miles after the oil change I was warming up the bike and noticed the primary leaking (pretty good). With no obvious signs of leaking I decided to do a oil change on the primary. New O-ring and gasket installed with 1 quart of synthetic oil. While warming up the bike again (throttled up a little) I saw the primary leaking again and the oil looks fairly used. Have no idea what this could be from other than a over tightened O-ring on the drain pug, but why is the oil so black with out any use? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best to clean the bike, check the engine oil filter is tight, check fluid levels are not more than they should be. Warm the bike on a stand and look for leaks. If you continue to see oil from the primary the question is, is the leak at the front or back of the primary? Derby cover, drain plug, etc?

The 2 Bottom 2 bolts ( 3 or 4 to be extra secure) under the clutch basket need PERMATEX BLACK HIGH TEMP - OIL RESISTANT SILICONE AND OIL PROOF/HIGH TEMP SEALANT TO ALLEVIATE THAT LEAK .

First thing you should do is figure out where the leak is coming from...is it even the primary? You said the leak started after doing engine and tranny oils. Chances are too slim for it to randomly start leaking immediately after doing other oil changes.

07streetbob07 is right on the money... You really need to determine exactly where the leak is coming from. I just had my primary open for a clutch pack, and after my first ride I saw liquid dripping from under the center of the inner primary. I was sure one of the tower gaskets behind the inspection cover had slipped, and was allowing fluid out the back of the inner primary (in my immediate frustration it didn't even occur to me that the level of primary fluid would be way below this point when the bike wasn't running). I got everything together to pull the cover, but fortunately investigated further first... The "leak" was actually coming from my Mikuni vent line, which is routed right into the same area.

If you put too much trans.oil in, rec. 20-24 ozs., there may be some venting out the vent hose. This hose will drip onto the inner case with the bike on the jiffy stand. The primary on the 05's take 26 ozs., or to the bottom of the clutch basket. Another less likely leak would be this shift shaft seal behind the inner case where the shaft goes into the transmission.
