Default Oil Leak between the Tranny/Primary

Hi Guys,
I have this annoying leak, it has been there since day 1, but it is a bit more now, mostly after I changed my Primary oil.
I just cleaned the area where there is a leak, and took the bike for a 20K quick ride, came back and took this photo, you can see fresh clean oil coming out.

When I filled my Primary it took 1.2 quart of oil to reach the proper level (and bike was up on stand), although the manual says it should take only .75 quarts, but this was the first change in almost 10K miles so I figured the primary must have gone really low on OIL.

Anyway, check the photos attached and let me know if you have seen that before !.

Here is what the deal is with that. The two sides of the case where the leak are coming from are not connected. It is referred to as a weep. Mine has been doing that for many years. One side of that is the crank case, the other the tranny. I fill my levels to what the manual says regardless of levels.

Hi Dr. Drew, thanks a lot man, So I am not sure I understood you correctly ? do you fill the excactly 'amounts' regardless of level ? or you fill to the 'level' regardless of the amount ?

I pour my oil in a measuring cup and dump that in. To hell with seeing if it looks right. 51K miles so far problem free.

Yep, fill it according to specs, unless there's a leak and you're not getting all the oil in there, you should be fine. Too much oil and you will get "weep".

If I remember correctly HD has a kit to reseal that? Cause isn't it factory sealed in that spot to split the case. I've heard of a few that just leak a bunch of oil from there even when oil level is to specs. Btw thats all motor oil coming from there.

I have always used exactly 1 quart of oil in the primary, been doing it for 15+ years. Never had a problem, and change it with every oil change, about 2500 miles max. 1.5 quarts seem like an awful lot. Good luck, TJ
