My FXR. Handles great, but my Stage1 107 M8 will easily dust it on the straight .
Well that's a Given an 80 inch Engine with 8.7:1 Compression Ratio vs a 107.. Just 27" Displacement Alone should win in a Straight Line Handling in the Twisties may be another Story ..
I think at the end of the day, both bikes can be built up to handle well for a HD. The FXR has a more rigid frame, so that is naturally going to give your more confidence. My LS with the stock suspension felt like a wet noodle at 120+. There are guys carving up tracks fully leaned over on modded Dynas,. Could those same guys go faster on a FXR, maybe, maybe not.
I think one of the biggest missed point is the weight. 75 pounds is alot. The perceived nimbleness is going to be huge.
The last thing is is how nice it is just to push a button and have it start and idle every time on a late model Dyna. While people call it character; carbs, chokes, (and going way back kick starting), and non-ABS to me doesnt add enjoyment to the riding experience, IMO.

This is why i want to put my Low Rider S on a diet. After ragging it through the mountains, the one thing that really stands out is how heavy it is, especially when braking hard. I want to switch as much metal as i can for carbon fiber.
I need to get the 102 hp &112 Torks that my 680 pound dyna is pushing : Into my 600 pound 1340 fxr!! But the modern fuel injection dyna is a beautiful thing. I have big plans for my fxr, but it will always feel like an old bike .handle like a top old bike but will always have to be warmed up!
FWIW, I was told by the lead fabricator at AlloyArt that their Dyna Combi Stabilizer makes a Dyna handle like a FXR. After experiencing the change their touring stabilizer did to my Street Glide, I believe him.
