New member here, I ride a dyna superglide. This is a two'fer.
Anyway, I have tastles on my handlebars and I'm attached to them. I firmly believe in the fact that they are there to keep me safe(warding off evil spirits), just like the gaurdian bell my friend installed on my bike.
1: I was out riding and a group of riders approached me at a light. They called out the fact that I have tastles on my bars and claimed that they are "gay"
normally I don't mind meeting and riding with people but that made me raise the question. How do most riders see tastles?
2: Since that point of contact it seems my gaurdian bell had fallen off somewhere. I talked to my brother and he claims that the bell did it's job and is time for a new one. So is that how they work?
I have grown up within the culture but it seems as if others are unacceping of you or that there's strict guidelines of how things are supposed to be. All I've ever known is to stay humble and be safe.
Never cared for "tassels" on a motorcycle handlebars. They were cute on my daughters little bicycles, but don't do anything for me on motorcycles. As far as guardian bells, I usually secure mine to the clutch cable at the bottom of the bike under the engine. Use a length of syn. leather from a fabric shop, real leather gets beat up pretty good then breaks. I was thrown into the culture.
By the way welcome to the forum from west Michigan, develop some thick skin and you'll do just fine.

It sounds like you are superstitious??? The guardian bell is also known as a gremlin bell. As far as tassels go, they are not very common. Most people who have tassels also have tassels elsewhere on their bike; saddlebag lids, footboards, They are part of a theme.
I have almost always had tassels on my bikes. I like how it looks better than the popular "get back whip" or whatever it's called.
I also have LED accent lights and bluetooth speakers. I am not gay ( not that there is anything wrong with that ) (think Seinfeld here) LOL.
It's my bike, my $$. Only person that has to like it is me.
I don't have a bell but if somebody gives me one someday I will put it on.
I would think that I like my bike as much or more than anybody likes theirs.
If someone has an issue with my bike that is their problem.
Carry on and ride safe!
