Default 2005 dyna super glide

I am a brand new rider. Just curious as to everyone’s thoughts on starting on a dyna. I absolutely love them, and have found a few in my price range. I was originally going to buy a sporster but have been just about talked out of it but some guys at work because they said I will out grow it fast and will want something bigger(the dyna). Like I said I am new to riding and was curious to see if it would be to much bike for a beginner

I have an '05 superglide. I have had a sportster, if you have a good offer on a Dyna I recommend going for it.

I bought my first Harley in 1987, a Sportster. It was a great, no frills bike. Had to sell it for financial reasons. When I got my Dyna 10 years ago I was astounded at how much more bike it was in every way. Definitely considered it a move up and never regretted it.

Your friends are right. You can grow out a Sportster pretty quickly.

The 2005 SuperGlide is a good machine, the 2006 was a test bed for HD improvements. If your bike is stock then you have a blank canvas for improvements. might be hard to get stuff from HD due to the age of the bike there are aftermarket companies that are willing to help you spend your money.

1st bike? Like first bike ever? If the answer to those Q is a yes, then the answer to you would be no harley would be good for you.

I just can’t understand why people think it’s a great idea to buy a Harley as a first motorcycle ever. Sure it’s the brand we love but they are far from a beginners bike in every way possible.

Get yourself a cheap Asian bike for like a grand and learn how to not get killed on that, then after a yr or two get your dream Harley and relearn how not to get killed on that....

I would just get the bike that you want regardless of size / power, cheaper that way instead of buying one after another. Back in 1985 when I was looking to buy my first bike, everybody was telling me I should start off on a small bike, but I figured I would just get exactly what I wanted and be easy on the throttle. Come to think of it, my first bike was only a 1200cc LOL. Photo below:

Probably a good idea to take a motorcycle safety course (I didn't) if you're a little uncomfortable riding as a new rider.
